(thanks to Barry O' Halloran for spotting and sending this one
along)From the West Chester Weekly (April 2003): LAA filmmaker Paul Yates, known for his intensity and quirkiness (he's adamantly straight-edge, fond of costume changes, and likely to mention his off-and-on friendship with Moby) will command a whole opening hour and a half in the Rich Forum's black box Leonhardt Studio. His Moby-featured movie, Porno, is coming out soon on DVD (check www.amazon.com) under the name Alien Sex Party, because Target won't sell a film called Porno, even if it's not pornographic. At Spring Fling, in between ask-anything question-and-answer sessions, Yates plans to show four or five shorter films including Geranium, a film he and Moby made about alcoholism, My Father's Son, about meeting his birth father for the first time, and a film he made at his mother's wake with a comedy soundtrack. Not surprisingly, Yates will film himself throughout the event and will command 10 minutes of the main stage with what he calls "a big, bright, crystal, silver, clear, black and white film called Moon Men Onion. It's about humble super heroes," he says, "and washing machines." |
